Interview with Visionary Artist Mark of mpm7.com - 42:49

This interview was done over skype in 2008. The audio quality is kind of poor as I had only a fairly cheap headphone mic and Mark was speaking into an earbud headphone if I recall correctly. Yay for amateur recording! haha - anyways I think anybody interested in visionary art, entheogen inspired art, salvia divinorum and such will enjoy listening. I’m hoping to do more of this kind of interview before long.

Mark’s art can be viewed at mpm7.com as well as his myspace page and on deviantART

That last painting… Man I’ve been there… Not the vision but I know what it feels like having your head turned into a soft-serve swirly. Kinda captures the horror and fascination so trademark to the Salvia experience. Respect to anyone that can handle that stuff, man. I’d take a hit of DMT anyday before I touch salvia again. Bring on the Changa, but man Salvia just smacks me like a bad monkey.

    Great art, great interview!

well said Martin - you’ll see some of the works on the linked sites show the ’subject’ grasping - almost white knuckled - while sort of being sucked into the swirling.. and I can really relate with that too.

I have had success with “microdosing” salvia 10x - just literally 1,2 or 5 flakes of it - such that the feeling rises but you’re not blasted from an interdimensional cannon without knowing wtf is going on…. microdosing and especially quidding it can bring some glorious, wonderfully enriching warm and meditative experiences… and with quidding esp. like being hugged in the womb of mother nature ;)

Really cool intraview!!! Found myself nodding in agreement many many times. I’ve had some intense salvia experiences - all good - but its great to hear some similar thoughts on this amazing plant. The artwork is fantastic!! I think you really have succeeded in visually capturing saliva’s characteristics. The entity on the last painting above looks kinda familiar! The physical feelings can almost be felt…

thanks so much for your feedback Bels! Of the 4 of Marks paintings I posted here the 4th resonates really strong with me too… and like you suggested, the physical feelings of the salvia twist & such can be felt just in the visual art alone… I think the main thing that drew me to Marks work is it’s not just nice art, but actually brings me deeply back to feelings from my experiences… Poignant indeed.
